Japanese Garden Tamborine Mountain Botanical Garden

The delightful Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens are a must-see experience on any visit to the region.  Just a short drive through the hinterland west from the Gold Coast, the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens combine a colourful and diverse range of exotic and native flora. The Gardens include a glorious lake as the centrepiece, a tranquil Japanese garden, a tropical rainforest walk and many other delights.

The Gardens are supported, maintained and administered by volunteers and members of the Tamborine Mountain Garden Club, one of the most dynamic and active organisations promoting the values and enjoyment of gardening in south-east Queensland.

Placed alongside the Tamborine Creek, the Japanese garden has its own special appeal with selected Camellias, pruned shrubs, bridge and pond.  Here, you will also find one of the 10 contemplative sites which are placed in specially chosen settings throughout the Gardens to allow visitors to rest awhile and enjoy the ambiance of the surrounds.

Many specimen trees are planted in the extensive lawn area and the delicate Maples are a delight in autumn, as is the avenue of Cherry trees in October.
You will be delighted by the lake with its stone bridge and picturesque surrounds which include areas for picnics. You will enjoy exploring the various pathways, many of which are accessible by pushers and wheelchairs.  You will be charmed by the boardwalk through the palm grove and you will be enchanted by the upper rainforest walk.

Tamborine Mountain is in the Hinterland of the Gold Coast in SE Queensland. It is easily accessed from the M1 Motorway Exit 57 at Oxenford and by following the signs to Tamborine Mountain. The trip from the M1 will take about 25 minutes and take you through some of SE Queensland’s most beautiful hinterland.
