Description:

From the website:  The park Garbatella, representing 4.5 hectares of green between the Cristoforo Colombo and Via Rosa Raimondi Garibaldi, is one of the best projects implemented by the municipality and various association in the area and especially by the group of volunteers of Legambiente. In fact, the park that had been identified for the speculation has recently been entrusted, for a year, in the management group Legambiente volunteers and citizens of the district, along with other associations such as Red House and the houses of Action. The project started many years ago and were made several interventions to recover an area that was already in decline. So in 2011 it opened the first of all the Zen Garden. The Japanese corner by Antonio Viglietto, inspired by the harmony that exists between the Japanese and nature, has been dedicated to the victims of the tsunami tragedy.

From Antonio Viglietto:  A small dry garden has been designed and built by Antonio Viglietto in a public park as part of a recovery and improvement of a downgraded area.  The rectangular inside garden is divided into two areas with gravel of different color. A maple (Acer palmatum ‘Orido Nishiki’) and an olive tree (Olea europaea) are planted in opposite corners. Under the maple there is a bed of Convallaria japonica.  The garden is dedicated to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan on March 11, 2011.  Visit is always possible, being the park open day & night.
